It’s bittersweet to announce the closure of AERVIDEO. After many thrilling years developing products, throwing GoPros and breaking the rules of traditional filmmaking, we’ve decided to stop the development and sale of our products - at least for now.

I love the idea of throwing my iPhone to get a unique photo or video. So much so, that I decided to design a product that lets you do exactly that. However, it failed. Here’s that story.
by Levin Pablo
The idea of throwing cameras was born in late 2015. About a year later, on September 29th of 2016, we launched the original AER on Kickstarter. Now, exactly 5 years later, we’re about to launch another Kickstarter campaign.

I believe it’s obvious that here at AERVIDEO, we’re pretty big fans of GoPros. Just like every year, we’re expecting a new generation of action cams to be announced around September. In this blog post, I will discuss what we hope and wish for in this year’s new GoPro products.

We, as AERVIDEO, are part of the problem and we’re aware of that. Our mission is to create new ways of seeing and capturing the world around us. There’s no point in that, if the world around us has been destroyed. That’s why we are determined to facilitate cleaner, more sustainable products and leave less marks behind us.

We can’t stress enough how important our community is to us. It all started with our Kickstarter campaign back in 2016. If it wasn’t for the two thousand brave backers who believed in us and our idea - this product, and with it our company, wouldn’t exist. We are where we are today because of this supportive community, which we like to call the AERFORCE.
by Levin Pablo
We see the AERFORCE, our global community of customers and enthusiasts, as an incredible resource. We have community members all over the world and with all kinds of different backgrounds. One thing we all have in common: We see ourselves as creatives and are passionate about new perspectives. Co-Creation is our approach of engaging this community into our design and creation activities.

It’s 2021 and FPV drones are here to stay. Another name for the little quadcopters is ‘racing drone’, because that’s their origin. Originally designed as an equipment for high speed racing events - nowadays they’re also widely used as a tool for creative filmmaking.

The 36 minute long thriller is full of action and packed with explosions, shoot-outs, car chases, rocket launchers and even a fighter jet! All of this is even more impressive considering that the entire film was shot independently by a crew of only 3 people and on a budget of just 15k.

This year has been rough for all of us. We’re here to help you make the best out of the holiday season, so 2020 can end on a good note. Since we’re always on the hunt for ‘new perspectives’, we’ve got a pretty good overview about different brands, products and offers out there on the sometimes overwhelming market. If your beloved ones are anything like us (GoPro fanatics or generally interested in photo-/videography) this shortlist with some of our favourite products will come in handy while shopping for gifts this year.

For a parcel to make it around the world, a lot has to happen. The journey begins with a customer ordering a product from the online shop. Once the payment is processed, the order needs to be picked, packed, commissioned and finally be fetched by the carrier, before it will be passed on between individual shipping hubs a dozen times, until it eventually arrives on your doorstep...

First hires definitely stir up a lot of excitement in most companies, and it most certainly did for us. Even though it is a merit for your company that someone turns other opportunities down and wants to be part of your journey (which feels amazing), it also brings along a lot of responsibility. All out of a sudden you’re in charge of someone else’s livelihood...

There are a couple of vertical mounts out there already, but after talking it through within our team, we set out to design our very own AER Vertical Mount. Some modeling, a couple 3D prints and the sourcing of aluminum GoPro screws’ later, we had a product we were happy with. The AER Vertical Mount was launched in week two of our for 4 WEEKS OF AER campaign this summer. We were super stoked to see you guys loving and embracing it so much. However, this wouldn’t be an AER blog post without a major plot twist...

Remote Work has been on a rise lately. With the ongoing global pandemic keeping people in the lockdown, businesses are forced to rethink their processes to adapt to this new situation. The topic of remote work and WFH (work from home) seems to be omnipresent right now, and a quick look into Google trends confirms this impression. The extraordinary situation we’re in, has accelerated this transformation into a new working culture...

This story begins a few years ago. We had launched our Kickstarter Campaign in October 2016 and looking back at it now, those five weeks seem like a blur full of hard work, excitement and celebration. [...] We kept telling ourselves: "Oh, that’s just because this was a CNC drilled prototype - once we have it made in a real molding tool it will be much more durable!” Spoiler alert: It wasn’t.

A couple of weeks ago every startup was still talking about launching new products, hiring new employees or closing big financing rounds. Now, these plans have changed entirely. Nearly all startups are affected by declining sales and rising uncertainty - to make things short: It’s all about survival now.

In this blog post we’d like to elaborate on our love-hate relationship with one of the most influential businesses in today’s world — Amazon. They’re sending out over 1.5 million packages a day and are changing the way we shop online...

Earlier this year the AERVIDEO team got to spend a couple of days at the sports fair ISPO in Munich. We had a small booth and were able to present AER to a myriad of different and very interesting people. While we were enjoying great conversations...
