AERVIDEO: The end.

It’s bittersweet to announce the closure of AERVIDEO. After many thrilling years developing products, throwing GoPros and breaking the rules of traditional filmmaking, we’ve decided to stop the development and sale of our products - at least for now.

AER ‘Throw Your Phone’: The story of our failed product launch.

I love the idea of throwing my iPhone to get a unique photo or video. So much so, that I decided to design a product that lets you do exactly that. However, it failed. Here’s that story.

Kickstarter: Why we're back after 5 years

The idea of throwing cameras was born in late 2015. About a year later, on September 29th of 2016, we launched the original AER on Kickstarter. Now, exactly 5 years later, we’re about to launch another Kickstarter campaign.

AERFORCE - How our community helps to spread the word about AER

We can’t stress enough how important our community is to us. It all started with our Kickstarter campaign back in 2016. If it wasn’t for the two thousand brave backers who believed in us and our idea - this product, and with it our company, wouldn’t exist. We are where we are today because of this supportive community, which we like to call the AERFORCE.

It’s 2021 and FPV drones are here to stay. Another name for the little quadcopters is ‘racing drone’, because that’s their origin. Originally designed as an equipment for high speed racing events - nowadays they’re also widely used as a tool for creative filmmaking.

AER featured in Short Film: Interview with Ahmet Atalay, maker of 'THE CURE'

The 36 minute long thriller is full of action and packed with explosions, shoot-outs, car chases, rocket launchers and even a fighter jet! All of this is even more impressive considering that the entire film was shot independently by a crew of only 3 people and on a budget of just 15k.

Worldwide Shipping? Easier said than done.

For a parcel to make it around the world, a lot has to happen. The journey begins with a customer ordering a product from the online shop. Once the payment is processed, the order needs to be picked, packed, commissioned and finally be fetched by the carrier, before it will be passed on between individual shipping hubs a dozen times, until it eventually arrives on your doorstep...

A startups unconventional hiring approach - choosing attitude over skill.

First hires definitely stir up a lot of excitement in most companies, and it most certainly did for us. Even though it is a merit for your company that someone turns other opportunities down and wants to be part of your journey (which feels amazing), it also brings along a lot of responsibility. All out of a sudden you’re in charge of someone else’s livelihood...

The future of content is vertical

There are a couple of vertical mounts out there already, but after talking it through within our team, we set out to design our very own AER Vertical Mount. Some modeling, a couple 3D prints and the sourcing of aluminum GoPro screws’ later, we had a product we were happy with. The AER Vertical Mount was launched in week two of our for 4 WEEKS OF AER campaign this summer. We were super stoked to see you guys loving and embracing it so much. However, this wouldn’t be an AER blog post without a major plot twist...

How we fucked up the initial design of the AER Wings - and then fixed it.

This story begins a few years ago. We had launched our Kickstarter Campaign in October 2016 and looking back at it now, those five weeks seem like a blur full of hard work, excitement and celebration. [...] We kept telling ourselves: "Oh, that’s just because this was a CNC drilled prototype - once we have it made in a real molding tool it will be much more durable!” Spoiler alert: It wasn’t.
